A BETTER STORY | VISION & PERSPECTIVE PART ONE

KEY SCRIPTURES

Jesus casts vision for us:

Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Jesus’ perspective:

Matthew 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

James’ perspective:

James 2:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let stead fastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Reality says this place is a mess

Perspective says the field is white

  • Your future is not ahead of you, rather it lies within you.

Jesus is your current and eternal reality

Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint,
but blessed is he who keeps the law – Proverbs 29:18

KEY POINTS

  • God’s vision for man is to redeem them, love them and make them His sons and daughters.
  • Vision is looking beyond where you are to where God desires you to.
  • Perspective is important to vision as it keeps us on track with the vision.
  • The eye is darkened when we become the treasure and not Him, our eyes are bright and clear when our Jesus is our Vision.

Sight is a function of the eyes while vision is a function of the heart.

Helen Keller, who was blind, said, ‘‘Worse than being blind would be, to be able to see, but not have vision.’’
