  • As Jesus has warns of the difficulty to come in the end, He prepares us with divine understanding. Parables give insight into the mysteries of His Kingdom.
  • The parable of the sewer and of the wheat and tares give warning of false conversions versus true conversions which produce fruit.
  • The mystery of lawlessness gives insight into the attempts of fallen humankind to solve problems.
  • The mystery of godliness reveals us as a vessel meant to contain God himself. A transcendent power from without now living within. We were never intended to face life alone.
  • Christians face all the same afflictions, perplexities, and struggles as non-believers, but can learn to live by God’s power within.
  • God conditions us for the future difficulties and puts us on display to the world.

Discussion Questions

  1. Examine yourself to see how the Word has taken root in your life. What kind of fruit are you bearing?
  2. How do you first react to afflictions, pressures and perplexities? Do you ask Jesus what He wants to do for you and through you or wonder, ‘Where are you?’
  3. Are you conditioned, or out of shape for the fourth quarter? What can you do to get into the shape Jesus wants you in so as to not let your love grow cold?
  4. Can you talk to God about your conditioning? What might His response be?
  5. Who could you learn to love like the two imprisoned brothers of different color?
  6. How do we fight lawlessness differently than the world?
  7. What will you do to increase your divine understanding of the mysteries of God?
