  • Jesus makes his entry into Jerusalem on a young colt just as prophesied in Zechariah 9:9.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

  • Some say he is a prophet, others the King of Israel, and others say The King.
  • The Pharisees tell Jesus to stop the praise. Jesus said if he did, even the rocks would cry out.
  • Four different responses are much like the way people respond to Jesus today.
  • Jesus came to fulfill the law and atone for our sin, giving us a blessed hope.
  • Psalm 24 runs parallel in that Jesus is the King of Glory who desires to come in and rule our hearts.
  • The King is strong and mighty but gently knocks on the door of our heart.
  • The Psalm encourages to not only seek Him, but to seek His face.
  • The Christian is in for a long race where they will be called to persevere, content, and fight with their faith.
