- Unity of the Spirit is pleaded for by the Apostle Paul as part of a bigger plan.
- Our calling is chosen, adopted as sons and daughters, redeemed by Christ’s blood, and forgiven of our sins.
- Unity of the Spirit is maintained or preserved, not created. It is bestowed by the Spirit to all true believers.
- Christ baptizes us in the Spirit… He immerses us into the unity of Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We are a part of one body–one Church.
- Christ prayed for the Apostles and every one of His followers who would believe in Him through their teaching, including us!
- Unity of the Spirit we share in the life of God–we are partakers of the divine nature as it was always meant to be: God in us, us in God.

Discussion Questions
- Paul was imprisoned by Nero, but he saw himself as a prisoner of whom? (See Eph. 4:1). How does this apply to you?
- Considering the Spirit’s action in Gen. 1:2, Luke 1:35, Mark 1:11, and Acts 1:5 & 2:4, as well as Him driving Jesus into the wilderness to face Satan, discuss how the Holy Spirit’s action with you.
- What are the character qualities, or the manner we are to relate to one another, as we seek to maintain unity? (See Eph. 4:1-2) How do those qualities manifest in your life?
- Pray for the Holy Spirit’s help and guidance in areas of your life where there is division or chaos rather than unity in Him.
